Biography:

Miroslav Imrich ( March 27, 1953 Prague – May 4, 2024 Prague [1] ) was a Czech singer and songwriter, best known for his work in the music groups Abraxas and Tango .

Music career

He started his musical career in the music group Mentols . [2] He later replaced the musical formations Variations , Galaxies and Atomový dudy .

In 1977, he joined the group Abraxas, which was formed only shortly before that. After working in several local bands, the engagement in Abraxas was an important period. Over time, however, he began to complain more and more about the lack of implementation of his own compositions and ideas. From this also flowed the growing effort to establish his own group, where he could assert his efforts. [3]

He left Abraxas in 1983 to combine his work life with the pop-rock project Tango the following year. With this musical group, he also entered the widest public awareness. Tango appeared quite a lot on late normalization Czechoslovak television as part of various music programs for young people. With their new, but increasingly pop music, the group also made a name for itself on the radio of the time . She recorded gramophone records at Supraphon . Imrich profiled himself in the band not only as a singer, but also as a composer of most of the musical compositions. In 1986, Imrich and his Tango got to the prestigious Bratislava Lyra , they performed with the Olympic group in Geneva ; subsequently they went on tour with the formations Klincz in Poland , Stern Meissen in the GDR and FSB in Bulgaria . After returning from the string, which consisted of 750 concerts, some members of the band felt a certain burnout, others creative dissatisfaction, related to the less successful recordings of 1987-1988. [3] In the spring of 1988, Tango broke up and Imrich was looking for a new job.

He felt an aversion to pop, which led him to join the metal band Alarm in late 1988. However, its existence did not last long. The new conditions of the market economy were similarly problematic for Imrich, as for practically all of his domestic colleagues. Between the years 1992–1993, he tried to build a new group under the name Imrich Tekkknofactory , but circumstances did not favor him. At one point, he even lived at home from the social benefits that the family received for the children. Between 1994 and 2000, he tried to restart his career in the group Factory . [4]

In 2007, he revived the band Tango on a local level with some success. [5]
