Jean Musy , bornDecember 18, 1947in Levallois-Perret and died on April 27, 2024, is a musician , composer and arranger of songs and film scores. He has recorded more than a thousand 45s and 150 albums, composed nearly 200 film scores and TV series and numerous songs. He composed an opera, illustrated poems by Stefan Zweig and Rainer Maria Rilke , wrote a musical fresco inspired by the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls .

Jean Musy comes from a modest family, his father was a printer. With his family, he lived in an HLM building in Levallois-Perret.

As a teenager, he discovered the Hammond organ and jazz. From the age of 14, he joined groups of musicians with whom he gave his first concerts in Paris in jazz clubs. At 16, he met Mickey Baker , American guitarist, studio musician and arranger for Johnny Hallyday , who led him to become Nino Ferrer ‘s accompanist . For a year he toured with him and recorded the album I would like to be black in a studio in Dijon.

Through Mickey’s connections, Jean Musy is introduced to Joe Dassin . In 1968, Johnny Arthey , Joe Dassin’s English arranger, fell ill. Joe Dassin then asked Jean Musy to write the arrangement of a song that he had to record 48 hours later: Les Champs Élysées .
