Anderson Leonardo ( Rio de Janeiro , August 18, 1972 — Ibid., April 26, 2024 ) , better known as Anderson Molejo , was a Brazilian singer , composer and instrumentalist . He became well-known for being a member of the group Molejo . Anderson had a career spanning more than 30 years. [ 1 ]

Personal life

The singer was married to administrator Paula Cardoso and left four children: Leozinho Bradock, Alissa, Rafael Phelipe and Alice. [ two ]

Anderson was born in Rio de Janeiro. He gained fame in music in the early 1980s, when he joined the group Molejo , becoming a reference in pagode . [ 3 ] Molejo’s first hit with Anderson’s voice came with “Caçamba”, a song from the first album, ” Group Molejo ” ( 1994 ). After the success of the song, other melodies won over the public such as: “Brincadeira de Criança”, “Dança da Vassoura”, “Cilada” and “Paparico” are some of the group’s most famous tracks. In addition to being the group’s lead singer, she also plays Cavaquinho and composes. [ 4 ]

Health

In October 2022, the musician was diagnosed with inguinal cancer, in the groin region, affecting the testicles . [ 5 ] Two months later, the singer announced that he was cured. [ 6 ] However, in May of the following year, the artist said he had to resume treatment. [ 7 ]

In 2023 , he was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism , after being hospitalized for pneumonia in Rio de Janeiro . [ 8 ] The announcement was made via advisory. [ 9 ]

On February 27, the singer was admitted to a private hospital in Rio de Janeiro, where he underwent immunotherapy and received medication for pain. As early as March 13, 2024, he underwent a hypogastric nerve plexus block procedure for pain. However, on March 24, 2024, he was hospitalized again after his health condition worsened. Anderson had been medically discharged on the 19th. [ 10 ]

Death

On April 26, 2024, he died at Hospital Unimed da Barra da Tijuca in Rio de Janeiro, a victim of complications from cancer. [ 11 ]

Controversies

In 2021, Anderson was accused of rape by singer and dancer MC Maylon. [ 12 ] The crime would have happened in 2020 in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The artist’s advisor denied the accusation. [ 13 ] [ 14 ]

In 2022, during a podcast, Gugu’s former bathtub, Solange Gomes, accused the singer of harassment on the program. According to her, the pagoda star touched her and she didn’t complain at the time, for fear of losing her job. However, Anderson Leonardo’s legal advisor denied the allegations. [ 15 ]
