Biography:
Born in Montevideo in Uruguay, in 1942, Silvia Baleani trained at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, immediately becoming a regular guest of the prestigious opera seasons. After a short time in Vienna, she achieved her professional success in Italy. She sings in the most renowned national theaters and under the direction of the greatest orchestra conductors, among many others, Peter Maag, Ferdinando Leiter and Bruno Bartoletti. She confers deep depth to the role of Ksenija in Boris Goudonov by P. Musorgsky, directed by Claudio Abbado, in 1979, at the Teatro La Scala in Milan.
But she entrusts our beautiful country with art and also with the heart. In 1977 she, in fact, at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, during the rehearsals of Il Signor Bruschinoby Gioachino Rossini, meets a young conductor from Abruzzo, not yet established and unknown to most. His name is Donato Renzetti, they will marry in 1984 and since then Silvia will intertwine her South American roots with those of Abruzzo, specifically with those of the town of Torino di Sangro, in the province of Chieti. If Milan recognizes her professional satisfaction, she owes love to Abruzzo, and from her life the gratitude for having lived with profound dignity.
At the Petruzzelli Theater in Bari, in 1986, she debuted the role of Iphigénie in Iphigenia in Tauride directed by Luca Ronconi. In 1994 she definitively abandoned the scene; she does it at the Sferisterio in Macerata, interpreting her, in La Bohèmeby Giacomo Puccini, a sumptuous Musetta, directed by Walter Pagliaro and, in the role of Mimí another great soprano, Giusy Devinu. On the podium, again, Donato Renzetti, the man of life to whom from that moment he will give all the breaths of future years. Forever at her side, sacrificing herself to feelings like the many women she had portrayed on stage boards, with the grace that was personal to her, with the finesse for which all her colleagues, all her friends and acquaintances loved her having sincere respect for her.
And in grace, today May 18, 2022 , she left, at the San Raffaele in Milan, treated in the General Medicine department led by Professor Marzia Spessot flanked by Dr. Cecilia Piani , with the hematological consultancy of prof. Andrea Assanelli and with a staff, of nurses and health workers, who she paid, that feminine delicacy, with extreme professionalism and humanity.
For us who write the journalistic sin of pouring personal pain into public broadcasting, the keyboard doesn’t tremble like the pen, the tears don’t fade the ink but the heart weeps and aches in the chest. He brings down the curtain on an act of existence, in memory of Silvia who will forever be the dream we want to dream, to wake up with her sweet, infinite and unique “Hello, darling…”
