Biography:

Efrem Grigorievich Amiramov ( April 11, 1956 [ 1 ] , Nalchik  – October 9, 2025 [ 2 ] , Nalchik ) was a Soviet singer , musician , composer , poet , author and performer of his own songs, and television producer.

Efrem Amiramov was born on April 11, 1956, in Nalchik. He is a Mountain Jew . His father, Grigory Timofeevich Amiramov, was the organizer, choreographer , and first director of the Karachay State Song and Dance Ensemble before World War II . After the war, he left the stage in mourning for his mother and seven-year-old eldest son (they and 472 other Mountain Jews were thrown alive into a well by the Nazis in the village of Bogdanovka in Stavropol Krai ). His mother, Maria Raframovna Amiramov, came from a family of hereditary rabbis [ 3 ] [ 4 ] (unavailable link) and took care of the home and raised the children. The family, besides Efrem, included four daughters and one son.

While still in the first grade, Efrem entered a music school to study piano; he graduated in 1970. Efrem’s passion for music was fostered by the example of his father, who played a variety of musical instruments (except for wind instruments): guitar , piano , button accordion , accordion , etc. Efrem himself learned to play the seven-string guitar in the fifth grade , and in the seventh grade, together with his classmates, he created the rock band “Gini”, in which they played both well-known rock compositions and songs of their own composition [ 3 ] [ 4 ] .

Having failed to enter the acting department of VGIK after finishing school , Efrem received a higher education in economics, graduating in 1977 from the financial and economics department of the Rostov Institute of National Economy [ 4 ] .

From 2015 until his death, he was a member of the Public Council of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Moscow [ 5 ] .

Illness and death

In 2022, he suffered two heart attacks and a stroke.

In October 2025, he was admitted to intensive care with sepsis [ 6 ] .

He died on October 9, 2025, at the age of 70, in the intensive care unit of a Nalchik hospital [ 7 ] .

Activity

Amiramov’s first recording was made in 1987. In 1989, thirty-five songs were recorded at Nika Studios. Seventeen of these songs were included on his first tape album, “The Last Debut,” and the remaining eighteen were included on “PS.” Both albums spent six months on the Smena newspaper’s hit parade in the “Urban Romance” section.

In 1991, Amiramov wrote (as he recalls, after a trivial quarrel with his wife) his most famous song, ” Young .” That same year, the song became the basis for a music video , filmed by director Igor Pesotsky; the release of this video on television brought the song’s author and performer nationwide fame . [ 3 ] [ 8 ] Music videos were also filmed for the songs “Nalchik Balamut,” “Pearls,” and “Banal Romance.”

In 1992, Amiramov founded the band “Byv v Upravleniye” (Used in Use), later renaming it “Neprikosvenny Zapas” (Emergency Reserve). In 1996, he produced the program ” At Work Noon ” on the Russian Universities television channel (later RTR ) , which covered all aspects of Russian culture.

In 2004, he won the ” Chanson of the Year ” award in the ” Chanson Legend ” category [ 9 ] . In April 2005, a new album, “Inspiration,” was released.

In 2007, a collection of poems by Efrem Amiramov, “Everything is so! or Hysteria…” was published [ 10 ] .
